Benefits of Spain Digital Nomad Visa Residency

Residency is a visa status which allows the holder to live in the country without being a citizen. Visa holders are also entitled to live, work, go to school and access health care in the country of residence.

Spain has a very favourable tax structure for digital nomads. Holders of this visa are eligible for the 24% flat tax rate of 24% on income, instead of a progressive rate which can reach up to 48%. Only certain remote workers qualify.

Digital Nomad Visa

The program is designed for remote workers and freelancers from outside the EU who are either self-employed or who are employed by a company outside of Spain, with the intent to relocate to Spain.

Applicants to this program must:

  • Have been working for the foreign company or clients for at least 3 months prior to the application.
  • Have a contract with the foreign company or clients that extends at least 1 year into the future.
  • Demonstrate 3 years of work-related experience or a degree from a reputable institution.
  • Have no criminal records or entry ban to Spain.
  • Obtain private health insurance with full coverage in Spain.
  • Have a minimum income of €35,000 / year for a Single

Application. An additional €13,000/ year for the first additional

family member, and €5,000 / year for each additional applicant.

The freelancer must:

  • Work with at least one foreign company.
  • The foreign company must have been operating for at least 1 year prior to the application.
  • Prove that the foreign company allows them to work remotely in Spain.
